OOTD - Ruffles

Hi guys,

It is still not the lovely warm summer weather that I would like it to be (especially with my vacation coming up on Friday!) And so no bare legs for me...

I found this cute ruffle dress on sale a couple of weeks ago. It is in a soft thin knit and will also be great for autumn with a pair of nice boots. I love that it is girlie but yet a little more edgy and cool.

It is a straight size xl (uk 16/18 - us 14/16) but I sometimes find that you can be lucky and make straight sizes work, depending on the cut and the fit of the item of course. So give it a try, even though you may think that you will never fit in a size UK 14/16/18 - US 12/14/16, sometimes you will be surprised.

OMG, looking at these pictures make me realise that I REALLY need to get my hair coloured! Need to book an appointment with my colourist ASAP!

Want it now!

These lovely items are on their way to me. And as you can see, I am already planning for the A/W 11 season. That is really necessary when you live in a country where it is cold and/or rainy 9 months a year! ;-)

As you can see, I will be wearing quite a bit of grey this autumn/winter. And I am not done with nude yet either. That colour is great with grey as well as black to soften up the look a bit. And obviously I am not over drapes and asymmetrical shapes yet either ;-)

Grey leather jacket with cowl neck/drape effect - Avenue (at onestopplus.com)

Nude slouchy moto jacket - GAP

Are you ready for A/W 11? What pieces are on your wishlist right now?

New In - Nude Cardigan

I picked up a cute little cardigan in H&M the other day. It has a nice nude/pinkish colour and is a soft knit with a sheer fabric edge. I love cardigans and little jackets, not because I hate my arms that much, but bare shoulders are not an option for work and besides, I am almost always freezing...

Here is how I would style the cardigan:

Nude cardigan - H&M // White T-shirt - H&M BiB // Skirt DYI a la T by Alexander Wang //
Necklace - Accessorize // Iphone pouch - Glitter (local Accessories shop)

I know I have been sporting the T by Alexander Wang inspired skirts a lot lately, but I just really love them at the moment. The jersey fabric is so comfortable (Yes, style over comfort, but what if you can have the best of both worlds?!? ;-)) and the drapey effect is so cool and stylish.

I have made 3 in different colours and I am sure that I will wear them all fall and winter as well with coloured/black tights. If you would like to make one for yourself, it is actually really easy and you can find a guide here. A little tip: use a single jersey, not a viscose jersey as that is too thin stretchy to get the right drape effect.

OOTN - Cocktail Night

Hi Guys,

Friday night was cocktail night with the girls. The weather was SO dull and not at all the nice summer evening that we had hoped. Nevertheless, we kept the original plan and dressed up in cocktail dresses ;-)

Here is my outfit:

Berry coloured dress - ASOS Curve // Berry coloured shoes - New Look // Silver clutch - Oasis // Cocktail skull ring - Butler and Wilson (from Ebay)

I have only worn this outfit twice, but hope that someone will invite me to a wedding or something soon so I can wear it again. I love the deep berry/jewel tone of this dress and the fit is great although it does need a little shapewear tricks and is not really made to sit down in, but my motto is: style over comfort - ANYTIME ;-)

OOTD - Black 'n' Blue

Hi guys,

I work in a big company and do have quite an outgoing role, which means that I often have meetings and dinners with external people from all over the world, so quite often my clothes needs to be presentable and a little formal. I always, though, make sure to keep my clothes "me", I hate to feel that I am in a costume, so I do not own a formal suit at all, even though that would probably be much easier.

Here is some pictures of today's outfit that needed to work for an external meeting. I think it has a little "Chanel" feel about it, although Karl Lagerfeld would probably not agree that fat people could evoke anything even remotely Chanel-ish ;-)

OOTD - Dinner and a movie

First the beautiful sky I caught from my window on friday night, when the sun finally broke through the rainclouds just before sunset:

Saturday night I went out with one of my girlfriends, we went to the movies and to dinner afterwards. I wanted to dress casual but stylish so I went with my favorite skirt at the moment my T by Alexander Wang inspired DYI skirt. It is comfy but stylish (gotta love that combination).

Grey skirt - DYI // Grey tights - Thightsplease.co.uk // White ruffle top - H&M // Grey Cardigan - H&M// Statement necklace - Day, Birger et Mikkelsen // Ballerina flats - Deichmann // Grey bag - Liebeskind Berlin

Close-ups of some of the details:

Grey flats with mirror effect and cut-out details
 Grey studded leather bag

Statement necklace with stones, chain and leather

I really love grey at the moment, I think the colour is just perfect for both summer and winter. And a perfect stand in for black, which I try to avoid in the summer, but LOVE to wear as much as possible in the winter :-)

Collections - Shoes

I thought, over the next couple of months, I would share some some of my "collections" with you.

When I was a kid I collected Barbie dolls, scented stationary, glossy pictures and even napkins at one point in time! Today I collect other beautiful things like clothes, shoes and accessories ;-) So, besides the shoes, you can look forward to a glimpse of my handbag collection, earring collection and my collection of leather jackets.

Sequin and satin Mary Janes - Pedro García

Burgundy satin platforms with velvet bows - New Look

Black suede peeptoes with gold studs - Guess

Navy satin peeptoes with diamante - Friis & Co

Black stillettos with studs and diamante stones - Blink (heavely inspired by the 2009 Balmains)

Of course I would like you to think that all of my shoes are stillettos and that I wear them anywhere and all the time ;-) But that is just not realistic... So here is a couple of my favorite "practical" shoes:
Winter red suede ballerinas with grosgrain bows - Pretty Ballerinas (seriously if you do not own a pair of PBs, you need to buy them NOW, they are really pretty and VERY comfortable)

Ice pink flip flops with diamante stud - Havaianas

And finally a little peek into their home in my giant closet (thank you Ikea!):

OOTD - Monday in grey and black, with a splash of pink...

Hi guys,

Here is the OOTD for today. I bought the grey 2in1 dress in the Evans sale, I had had my eye on it for a while so when it came on sale I grapped it. When it came, I was actually not really sure if I liked it, but I have ended up wearing it quite a lot. It is so easy to wear and very comfortable.

Dress - Evans // cardigan - H&M // ruffle wedges - Qupid (bought in Miami) // Kukoui nut/hawaiian beads necklace - Ebay
Here is a little close up of my oversize colourful watch from Swedish Nyåks. The have a whole collection of mix and match watches where you can buy extra rubber bands so you can change it up a little to match you outfit.

And a close up of my favorite earrings at the moment from Danish jewelry designer Julie Sandlau. She is my favorite and I have a massive collection of her pieces. Mostly earings though. I think these are cute but still a little rock/edgy. Love them!

OOTD - Sunday lunch/Karina 5 years

Hi guys,

This is my outfit from yesterday. I went out to lunch with my parents.

Dress - Monsoon // Nude wedge peeptoes - Steve Madden

Normally I am not that girlie in my style and my favorite (clothes) colours are grey and black, but something strange happens with me as soon as the sun comes out and the winter is over. I get all girlie and want to dress in bright colours, whites and florals!

Anyway, I love the 50'ies cut of this dress, I feel like I am in "Mad Men" when I where it. It also reminds me of the pretty (unpractical) dresses my grandmother used to buy for my when I was a kid, much to my mother's regret, but how I loved those frilly, girlie dresses!

OOTD - Red, white and blue

I must admit, I have a little obsession at the moment: the sailor look (in a tasteful way of course nothing with captain hats or anything ;-)). Here is what I wore today:

Skirt - DYI // t-shirt - H&M // blazer - H&M (BiB) // Shoes - H&M

Exclusive summer sale Nué (Copenhagen)

tirsdag den 5. juli 2011

What sale items to pick up?

Right now the sale is everywhere and soon we will see final reductions. But what pieces do you REALLY need? My advice is to leave the tempting flowy summer dresses that will only be used for a couple of months a year (in Denmark anyway ;-)) and buy pieces that will also take you into to fall/winter 2011.

Look for trends that has also been shown in the A/W 2011 collections like:
  • Nudes and earthy tones
  • The androgynous/boyfriend look
  • Metallics
  • Blue
  • Leather
  • Block colours (strong reds, pink and orange)
From top left: Nude boyfriend blazer - Carmakoma // Perspex heels - ASOS // Metallic skirt - Boden // Blue dress - ASOS Curve // Blue Clutch - ASOS // Grey suede heels - ASOS

First post ever!

So this is my first ever post and I just want to give you a short introduction to myself and the blog.

First of all, I should start out by making sure that I give credit to the guy whos painting I have shamelessly stolen for my header. Mark Schwartz is the name of the shoe designer/artist that have painted the eagle and the shoes. He makes beautiful paintings of shoes (you HAVE to love that! ;-)) you can see more from him here.

This blog has been on my mind for quite some time now and now I have finally decided to just jump in to it and become a fashion blogger.  This blog will be all about style and fashion, the main focus of course on the plus size side of fashion. I have always loved fashion and it is my clear conviction that just because you are not a size zero, you do not need to give up on fashion. I will be sharing my buys, tips and tricks, favorite pieces, favorite shops and of course a lot of outfits.

I hope I will be able to give other plus size woman out there inspiration to embraze their size and feel confident to wear whatever they want. Remember: Fashion is not about the size, it is about the attitude!
