OOTD - Blue suede shoes

Hi guys,

Here is my outfit from today. I got back from the US yesterday and as usual my suitcase has just exploded all over my apartment. I must do laundry one of these days ;-) Luckily I could break in some of my new purchases this morning.

Black draped top - Loft by Ann Taylor // Sequin and jersey skirt - Ann Taylor // Teal shoes - Aldo // Snake print clutch - Aldo

Details of the skirt. It has sequins only in the front, the back is all jersey. I like the mix of sporty and sparkles with the pockets, the jersey and the drawstring waist.

Back from Boston

Hi Guys,

I have been in Boston the past week on a conference, but I had a little time to shop anyway. I had actually planned that I could live-blog some of my shopping, but I forgot the cable to the camera. Oh well, here is some of my purchases and a lovely picture of the Boston skyline (not by me, as I did not get a chance to get on the water).

I will definitely go back to Boston for vacation some time, it was such a lovely city. Small but big, exactly as I like it. I would love to take a road trip on the US east coast: Philidelphia, Baltimore, New York, Washington DC and maybe a little bit Canada as well.

I love shopping in the USA! I usually go for make-up and shoes, but I this time I also bought a pair of Levi's Jeans (finally available in plus size!) a skirt and a top (which you can see in Fridays OOTD post).

I also bought something very unlike me, or shoes is not unlike me, but sneakers/trainers!? I have not bought a pair of sneakers in over 10 years. But walking around Boston on the first day, I came to realise that, cute as they are, ballerinas are just not support enough for feet walking the pavement (read: shopping) for 8 straight hours... And so the hunt for a pair of cute sneakers went in. I found these very cute Adidas retro basket shoes in my favorite fall colour combination: black and grey and I think they will look great with a casual outfit with skinny jeans and a leather jacket.

The key to wearing all black

Hi guys,

So I am wearing a lot of black. Not because black is slimming, because I do not really believe in the old "fatshion" advices of wearing black all the time and choose pieces that covers you up totally. No, I just love the rock chick look.

I thought I would share my favorite tips on wearing black with you. I gues it is not exactly rocket science and I am sure I am not the first person saying this, but the number one tip to wearing all black is: texture. Mix a lot of different textures to give your all black look more depth and to keep it interesting.

To illustrate this point I have collected some of my favorite black pieces:

Pleated leather jacket with crochet ribbons - Object by Vila // Long sleve lace top - Vero Moda // Suede and fur gillet - Style Butler // Waxed jeans - Ellos (costumized by me)

The leather jacket and the gillet are not new. The jacket is at least 3 years old and the gillet I picked up during the January sale earlier this year. It is really cute and has a silver/grey embroidery of angel wings on the back. You will surely see me in that when it is a little colder. The lace top I picked up yesterday. It is a straight size XL, so a little short for me, but the puff sleeves and the lace are so adorable that I will need to make it work.

Another tip to wearing all black is to choose tailored, fitted pieces. In my opnion a big mass of loose black fabric covering you up, only makes you look bigger.

OOTD - Waxed Jeans

Hi guys,

I wore my new waxed jeans from Ellos (the Scandinavian branch of Redcats). I bought them a few weeks ago, but did not love them immediately. I had wanted a pair of waxed jeans for a long time, but had not been able to find any in my size, so when I saw these, I had to get them although I found them a bit mumsy. They were to wide in the legs (from the knees and down), so I decided to try and sew them in to get a more slim look. I think I was quite successful. In general I do a lot of customizing of my clothes, I find that it is often necessary to tweek a little here and there to get the right fit.

Sorry about the unfriendly expression, I was concentrating hard on getting the remote to connect with the camera :-)

Waxed Jeans - Ellos // Tank top - H&M // Jersey Jacket - Object by Vila // Scarf - Black Lily // Shoes - Deichman // Necklace - Day, Birger et Mikkelsen

Hmm, these two are a little bit mug shoot'ish. Note to self: smile a little the next time

A couple of close-ups of my favorite scarf from Danish accessories brand Black Lily. They do fabulous bags, wallets, clutches, scarfs and belts. I use it for a tiny bit of colour (if a mix of nude, a fleck of navy and grey can really be characterized as colour) and it goes with almost everything.

Waxed jeans - Ellos // Grey flats from Deichman shoes

Close-up of shiny jeans and shiny shoes :-) I really think these jeans will be a favorite this season.

 "Over the top" - Essie

And shiny grey nails... It was my intention to get more colour into my fall/winter wardrobe, but I must admit, it is easier said than done. I always end in grey or black in the end. I must try a little harder next time ;-)

Favorite Designers - Rick Owens

Hi guys,

My favorite designers are unfortunately only designing to the straight size girls, which I think is such a pity, as their designes would look fab on curves as well ;-)

Rick Owens is the king of leather (I LOVE leather! But really HATE the fact that not more leather pieces are available in plussize!) and I adore his draped dark shapes, so casual but yet so structured , cool and edgy, so perfect. Here is a couple of pieces I would love to own:

Rick Owens Gathered Nappa Long Sleeve Top (price app. 2000 USD)

Rick Owens Leather Jacket (app. price: 3000 USD)

A good thing that I am not skinny, because I would HAVE to own pieces like this! Have you ever heard the expression "being house-poor"? I would totally be "clothes-poor"!

Rick Owens newest line is DRKSHDW a denim collection that features the same draped asymmetrical shapes. The line features hoodies, jersey tops, dresses and skirts besides the denim. Here is  my favorite DRKSHDW piece:

Rick Owens DRKSHDW wrap hoodie (app. 500 USD)

I am seriously in love with this hoodie and it is much more in my price AND size range than the other pieces. This hoodie goes up to a size XXL (US16/UK18) so with the oversize cut, I should be able to fit in to it. But maybe 500 USD is still a little much for a hoodie ;-)

New In - ASOS lace pencil skirt

Hi guys,

I have been looking for the perfect pencil skirt for a while now and yesterday I found this beautiful lace skirt at ASOS Curve. Needless to say: it is on its way to me at this very moment.

I cannot wait to wear it with black thights, black heels a nude top and a black leather jacket for that pretty but edgy ballerina meets rock chick look.

Want it now - Black leather boots from Duoboots.com

Hi guys,

Every fall I need a new pair of boots or maybe I don't NEED them per say, but need and want are very close in my world ;-)

I bought a pair of over knee boots last year and loved them so much that I really want another pair. Yes, the style experts say that the over knees are out and now we are back to regular knee highs, but I don't really care, I love the over knee look!

This is the pair on my wishlist this year.

ELVO over knee boot from Duo Boots.

For those of you that do not know duoboots.com, I can highly recommend a visit to the site. Yes, the shoes and boots are fairly expensive, but it is very high quality (no pleather) and best of all: they make boots to fit YOUR calf. Calf widths go from 31 cm to 49 cm and sizes from EU35 to EU42. This is also the only place I have been able to find over knee boots in plus sizes. I am not sure they ship to North America, but they do ship to most of Europe.

(This is not a sponsored post, although I would definitely not say no to review a couple of their new models ;-))

What are your favorite plus size shoe shops?

OOTD - Ladylike

Hi guys,

Today I wore one of my new pussy bow shirts with my polkadot skirt from Carmakoma. The look is very ladylike, but I paired it with my new leather/suede waist belt from Dorothy Perkins and my suede wedges to give the look a little more edge.

New in - Pussy Bow shirt(s)

Hi guys,

I always have a hard time finding tops and blouses (that is also the reason why I wear so many dresses). I think most tops (that I apparently come across) are just boring, so I often end up with a simple vest top teamed with a nice cardigan or a blazer.

This season I was very keen to get my hands in a pretty "silk" shirt with a pussy bow neckline and yesterday I spotted the perfect specimen in Gina Tricot! Needless to say that I bought almost one in each colour ;-) I always do that when I find something I really like.

Pink pussy bow shirt from Gina Tricot

Besides the pink one I bought a bordeaux, olive green and an off white/nude as well. You can get them here (if you are located in Denmark) in all the beautiful A/W 11 colours like rusty orange and jewel tones.

Gina Tricot's sizes only run up to an EU44/UK16/US14, but I often find that their sizes run big and therefore they can fit larger sizes as well.

I will wear these shirts with jeans to mix pretty and edgy and with skirts for a classic ladylike look.

OOTD - Powerdress

Hi guys,

So I finally wore my new dress from Carmakoma, the "mink" dress. It is very me, black, tailored and with puff sleeves (I cannot resist puff sleeves!). I wore it to work, even though it is a little bit short, but with a pair of 100 den. black thights underneath I was fine.

I did feel a little bit selfconscience at times because of the lenght and the fact that it is quite tight, but I am still very happy with it.

 Dress - Carmakoma // Tights - Evans // Shoes - Skoringen // Fringe bag - Botkier // Bracelet - Kranz & Ziegler // Earrings - Julie Sandlau

For a party or a night out I would style this dress with an up-do, dark smokey eyes, red lips and a pair of killer heels. I think I will be wearing this dress a lot this season.
